In this article, you’ll learn what these fees are, which shipping companies they apply to, how they’re calculated, and where you can view them.
Note: This feature is currently available only for stores operating within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).
What are international shipping gateway fees?
International shipping gateway fees represent the cost of Salla’s international shipping service. These fees are:
- Automatically added to the final customer at checkout
- Displayed transparently on the payment page
- Not charged to the merchant in any way
The goal of these fees is to:
- Ensure clear and transparent pricing
- Improve the international shipping experience for both merchants and customers
Shipping companies subject to international shipping gateway fees
International shipping gateway fees apply when using international shipping labels through Salla with the following carriers:
- Aramex
- DHL Express
- SMSA GCC
When a customer selects international shipping via Salla shipping labels, the gateway fee is automatically calculated and added to the total shipping cost at checkout.

Below are illustrative examples showing how the gateway fees are calculated and applied.
Example: 3 kg shipment from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Aramex International Shipping
- Shipping & excess weight fee: SAR 63.25
- International Gateway Fee:
- SAR 5 for the first 0.5 kg
- SAR 3 for each additional 0.5 kg
- 15% VAT
- Total gateway fee: SAR 23.00
Final amount paid by the customer: SAR 86.25
DHL Express International Shipping
- Shipping & excess weight fee: SAR 75.61
- International Gateway Fee:
- Fixed fee of SAR 5
- 15% VAT
- Total gateway fee: SAR 5.75
Final amount paid by the customer: SAR 81.36
SMSA (GCC Shipping)
- Shipping & excess weight fee: SAR 47.73
- International Gateway Fee:
- SAR 5 for the first 2 kg
- SAR 2 for each additional kg
- 15% VAT
- Total gateway fee: SAR 8.05
Final amount paid by the customer: SAR 55.78
Does the merchant pay any of these fees?
No. International Shipping Gateway Fees are fully paid by the customer and are not charged to the merchant in any form.
Where can you view International Shipping Gateway Fees?
You can view gateway fees at two stages:
When issuing the shipping label
During label creation, the confirmation window displays:
- Shipping cost
- International Shipping Gateway Fee
- VAT

This gives you full visibility before completing the issuance.
After issuing the shipping label
- Go to Shipping & Delivery.
- Click Shipping log.

From the log, you can view full details for each shipping label, including:

- Base shipping cost
- Gateway fees
- Applied taxes
